Aardwolf Hunting

The aardwolf, meaning “earth wolf” in Afrikaans, is closely related to cats, not wolves. As one of four hyena species, it has longer front legs and a bristling mane that enhances its size when threatened. Resembling striped hyenas, aardwolves have long muzzles and black stripes on gold fur. They are found in two African populations: one in the east from Egypt to central Tanzania and another in the south from Angola to South Africa. Aardwolves are nocturnal and live in dry savannas, using and enlarging abandoned burrows for shelter and raising young.
