African wild cat Hunting

The African Wild Cat, domesticated by Egyptians 6,000 years ago, is the ancestor of domestic cats. Though agile climbers, they primarily remain on the ground. Their diet includes mice, rats, birds, and young antelopes. Mating occurs from July to January, with a gestation period of 65 days and an average litter size of three. These solitary, territorial cats can interbreed with domestic cats. Today, pure African Wild Cats are mostly found in remote areas due to widespread interbreeding.
