Alligator Hunting

The alligator is a large reptile known for its armored body and long, rounded snout. Once near extinction, it is now a conservation success story. Males average 11.2 feet (3.4 meters), while females are about 8.2 feet (2.6 meters). They have a muscular tail, bony plates on their backs, and short legs. With 74 to 80 teeth, alligators can replace up to 3,000 throughout their lives. Found in freshwater environments from North Carolina to Texas, they can briefly tolerate saltwater. Typically living around 50 years, their main threats after reaching 4 feet are humans and other alligators.
