Alpine Chamois Hunting

The Alpine chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is an ungulate from the Bovidae family, widely found across the Dolomites. Similar in appearance to goats, it shares its subfamily Caprinae with them and sheep. This species closely resembles the Pyrenean chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica), which has a local endemic subspecies in Italy known as the Abruzzo chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica ornata). In terms of body shape and agility, the chamois is more akin to antelopes and saigas than to other alpine Bovids like ibex, mouflon, and wild goats.
