Banded Mongoose Hunting

The banded mongoose (Mungos mungo) is a small, social carnivore found in sub-Saharan Africa. Notable for its banded fur with alternating dark and light stripes, it measures 30 to 50 centimeters in length. Living in matriarchal clans of up to 30 members, banded mongooses exhibit cooperative behaviors like grooming and shared childcare. Their diet mainly consists of insects, small mammals, and reptiles. Active during the day, they communicate with various vocalizations and play a key role in controlling insect populations in their ecosystems.
