Barren Ground Caribou Hunting

The Barren-ground caribou, or tundra caribou, are known for their vast seasonal migrations between northern calving grounds and boreal winter ranges. They have a light brown coat, which thickens in winter, and adult males typically weigh between 300 to 600 pounds. Their diet consists mainly of lichens, mosses, and grasses. Breeding occurs in late fall, with calves born in late May to June. Hunting is largely concentrated in Greenland and Alaska, but populations are declining due to climate change and habitat loss.
