Coot Hunting

Coots are water birds that belong to the family Rallidae and are found in a variety of freshwater and brackish habitats around the globe. The most recognizable species is the Eurasian coot (*Fulica atra*), noted for its all-black plumage, striking white beak, and prominent frontal shield between the eyes. These birds are omnivorous, with diets consisting of aquatic plants, seeds, insects, and other invertebrates. Coots typically forage on both the water’s surface and just below it, showcasing their adaptability in searching for food.
