Red River Hog Hunting

The red river hog (Potamochoerus porcus) is a medium-sized wild pig native to the forests and savannas of West and Central Africa. Recognized for its striking reddish-brown coat, long legs, and distinctive facial markings, this omnivorous pig prefers habitats near water sources. Red river hogs are social animals, often found in small groups called sounders, led by a dominant female. They are primarily active at dusk and dawn (crepuscular) and feed on roots, fruits, and small animals. Their keen sense of smell helps them forage effectively in their forest environments.
